Pre-Preduction PowToon Powerpoint

In order to create this presentation we looked into Sky Storm productions https://skystorm.com/pre-production-a-case-study/. This website displays the strengths of their studio and the steps they have to take in order to be successful at pre-production. The website looks into different specific areas such as financing, plan B ideas, processes, clients, recourses and budgeting.

Our task was to specifically look at the strengths of Sky Storm Production and what has made them so successful whilst the other group in my class analysed the weaknesses. The process of researching itself was very important as it gave us an insight into what the company is all about. We had to look at the process itself, documentation completed, meeting the needs of the client, usefulness of pre-production elements, management of budget and resources and we hd to find specific examples to justify our arguments. We discovered as a group the strengths and some of these were that Sky Storm Productions clients have high expectations and Sky Storm Productions like to meet those expectations which tells me that they have standards they feel they need to live up to, it tells us us that as a company they don't lack in motivation or drive. Another strength they have is that they had a strict schedule and budget which they stuck to, being strict with themselves is a good way to be as it means they most likely wouldn't waste money on things they don't need to and lose out on time they could use effectively. They also have their own full studio and sets that are owned by them, by having your own resources and equipment it cuts down on any extra cost, however on the flip side it could limit opportunity and creativity because if you're only using your own resources it means you're only using what you are comfortable and used to therefore it may reflect on what you produce.

In terms of weaknesses, the other group found that the location had pulled out and this happened as a result of not having a plan B, they needed to secure the right location and made sure they did a lot more research to prevent things like this happening. They also needed a higher budget and for this they could've look into crowd funding which would have benefited them greatly. Crowd funding is where you campaign your cause or reason for needing money and rely on the good will of the public to donate to you and the good thing about this is that you never have to pay the money back. They also ended up changing and remodelling the set which resulted in more time being taken up but this could have been avoided if they planned things out before hand more effectively. Overall, they wasted a lot of time on rearranging the set when in the end it was barely even seen due to having too many actors on set.
